Bulgaria is situated in the South-East Europe, on the Balkan
Peninsula, and is one of the oldest European states. To the south
it borders with the Republic of Turkey and the Republic of Greece,
to the west - with Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and the
Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. The Danube river is the natural
north border with the Republic of Romania, and to the east Bulgaria
borders on the Black Sea.

is 0 metres (at Black Sea), the highest altitude is 2925 metres
(the peak of Mussala in the Rila mountain).

The prevailing climate of Bulgaria is continental, with cold winter
and hot summer. On the whole, the climate is more severe than
in the other European countries on the same latitude and the average
annual temperatures are higher than these of the neighbouring

with fine golden sand. The majority of Bulgaria beaches have been
awarded the EU Blue Flag for their environmental excellence.
Air temperatures in the summer vary between 23°C and 27°C and
sea temperatures vary between 17°C and 25°C, warmer than the Mediterranean.
There are more than 240 hours of sunshine in May and September,
and more than 300 in July and August. The spectacular mountain
ranges harbour some of Europe`s finest scenery with the rugged
snow-capped peaks and soft green slopes home to a burgeoning tourist
industry, where skiers can experience the thrills of the "white
sport" in winter, and hikers enjoy the green freshness of
the mountains in summer.
Bansko ski resort is situated in South-Western Bulgaria at the
foot hills of one of the beatiful Bulgarian mountain Pirin. The
Pirin mountain is a natural preserve included in the World Natural
Heritage list. The distance between Sofia and Bansko is 170 km.
The nearest International Airport is in Sofia.
The Bulgarian national currency is the Lev, which is divided
in 100 stotinki (in English cents). Bulgaria is an European country,
in which many major European and rest-of-the-world banks have
branches.
